God works and shares His love to the world through His people. Joyce Meyer in her book “the Love Revolution” pointed out that we can overcome evil with good. “Imagine what a mess the world would be if all God did was complain about everything that has gone wrong since He created it. But God doesn’t complain. He just continues to be good… He knows He can overcome evil with good! Evil is powerful for sure, but good is more powerful” (Joyce Meyer, the Love Revolution).

What a powerful statement to reflect on this month as we celebrate Valentine’s Day with our loved ones. Doing good is definitely the most practical way of expressing God’s character, which is love. People today are desperate to know whether God exists or not, what their purpose is for being here, and why the world is so filled with evil if God does exist. I believe that if they can see love in action through practical ways, that will answer their questions.

As “compassion” is one of the 4 DNA’s of IFGF GISI, several IFGF GISI churches have started the iShare ministry programs locally, which work to serve communities in their cities or nations through the provision of rescue help in times of disaster, scholarship programs, micro financing loans, free medical care, and so on. It is so great to see this sprouting and to see our churches extending their arms to cover ministry works outside the church to show God’s love to the world. IFGF GISI itself as an organization has declared a participation in the United Nations Development Program to eradicate poverty by 2015.

Now on the smaller yet significant scale, each of us can remember to get busy doing the little things like putting a smile on our face or truly listening to someone we’re with, as expressions of our practical love to others. As I Thessalonians 5:15 says, “Always aim to show kindness and seek to do good to one another and to everybody.” May this Valentine’s month inspire and remind us of the call to fulfill the needs of the world through love in action!
